I've never read anything by Anne Bishop before. A close friend of mine in high school, when this series was super popular, hated it and so I never read her books. My husband shared his kindle with me and I started reading these because his mother read them and liked them. So far they are enjoyable.

Yeah, last year I barely read and when I did it was a chore. Mainly because I had this idea I needed to read something other than fantasy. Truthfully, I'm really only interested in reading fantasy and historical novels (although getting my degree in history dampened my enjoyment of history books for awhile after I graduated). So it's nice reading again and enjoying what I'm reading.
