Yay, I was waiting for the announcement of what was going to be on the new Megumi Hayashibara album. I can't believe its been seven years since we got a studio album from Megumi. She hasn't been doing much lately. I've heard there are rumors of her being difficult to work with or something but I've never really seen evidence of it, but I also don't follow gossip very much when it comes to Japanese music artists. Personally, I think it's more likely she's aiming to retire or decrease her work load. She has expressed dissatisfaction with her role choices and the general direction of the anime industry. She hasn't been releasing that much music and she hasn't done a lot of voice acting compared to a decade ago. There are some rumors that she's hard to work with, but I've seen no evidence of this being the case.
Anyway, I'm glad we are getting Usura Hi Shinju and Imawa no Shinigami which are collaboration songs with Sheena Ringo. They're pretty cool songs and I'm glad that me deciding to wait and not get the singles has paid off.
Other than I'm surprised we are getting 3 Evangelion songs, although I guess I shouldn't be since the fourth, and final movie is supposed to come out this year. She's doing her own version of Komm Susser Todd (which I think is the only other major Evangelion song she hasn't covered) and I wonder if she'll be singing it in English or maybe Japanese. Her English is passable in Fly me to the Moon, but Komm Susser Todd has more complex English in it. She's doing a new version of Shuketsu no Sono he which is fine with me as I actually love that song a lot. And she's doing a completely new Evangelion song which I'm assuming will be used for the final movie.
I'm unfamiliar with Mardock so I have no idea what the ending song sounds like. I just looked it up and it's a Cyberpunk so I'm assuming it's a serious song and not something cutesy.
I'm hoping we don't have a lot of cutesy songs from Megumi this time around. Her last album had a few cutesy songs that I just was not into, although it made up for it by having Slayers/Evangelion songs. I'm not exactly excited about the song called Fifty either. I don't know why, but songs that are about the singer turning a certain age never do anything for me. But we'll see how I feel when I hear it.
I'll be getting the regular version of the CD and not the LE since the LE is just music videos which I don't care about having, mostly since the music videos are available on YouTube by King Record (her record company).
