Yes, sometimes I don't even realize where it comes from until I re-watch or re-read it (or play in the case of video games). I've definitely done it for fic before. I think sometimes the biggest inspiration is when an author does something I don't like or feel that what they did weakens the story. I think that has inspired me a lot because it can inspire me to work with an idea or scenario that I wouldn't have thought to do on my own. Also it's not necessary a sad scenario that has caused that reaction but sometimes a happy scenario that feels out of place.
